Eco Countertops is based on recycling waste materials into countertops which were ecofriendly. This was a lunchtime talk regarding to saving the environment by talking about the ecofriendly countertops. This event was taken place at Cosentino Asia, Singapore. The event happened on Earth Day which made it more special since it is related to saving the environment.

The event was hosted by GreenVine Design collaborated with Dekton to showcase their Eco Countertops. This product was something which is really interesting for myself because it shows that our waste that are thrown away can be used for more purposes. This lunchtime talk was represented by Ms. Yun and began to talk about recycled products and material. She then explained about their Eco Countertop and what material were they made from. The design of each countertops were unique and it was amazing to see what they were able to come up with from used materials. Upcycling used material like glass or mirrors and turning them into one of a kind eco countertops really amazed me and showed me that waste does not mean it has to go to the landfill but be used more effective. Ms. Yun showed everyone the figure of material which were recycled and the number were astonishing. Based on what I saw from the sample materials, I thought that the quality and the durability of the countertops are as strong as marbles and granite countertops or they may even be stronger.

After the lunchtime talk, everyone who attended the event were invited to have lunch. The atmosphere of the area was really nice, they came and interacted with everyone seeking to see if anyone had any questions in mind. I really felt a positive vibe going on at the lunchtime talk, they were really friendly and kind.
The fact that there are so much waste being taken out to the landfill, we as designers should consider about upcycling in order to save the environment and preventing as much waste as possible from going to the junk yard. I would say that the lunchtime talk about their Eco Countertops had such good impact to everyone in the seminar talk. They have showed everyone that not every waste should end up at the landfill and that upcycling could really save the environment.
